Bettie Jane Rose

Born: June 9th, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana

Parents: Sarah and Ernest Murry

Survived by: Anna May Hart (last Sister of four), and all the other great relatives mentioned in Charlie's tribute.

A little story about my Mom,

Bettie Jane or "BJ" as Charlie called her, had a tough start in life. One of four girls being raised by her Mom Sarah and Dad Ernest when her mother suddenly passes away at the age of 28, Bettie was just 3 years old. Dad could not raise the girls and run the family farm so he placed all four into an orphanage. Many years later Dad came and collected his "girls".

Fast forward to right after High School when Bettie met Charlie. Mom and Dad fell in love and began a new life together. They soon had a family of their own and Dad had to support them so a better job was needed. He decided to become a machinist, well that was the plan, but instead Mom, Dad, and the two kids headed to California. Years later with Bettie by Charlie's side he becomes a State Farm agent for 47 years while Mom holds down the job of raising a family and working a job as well. Bettie worked hard at Lockheed where she handle "Top Secret" material and was in charge or "count downs" for all rocket launches....yes she was the voice we all heard counting down..10-9-8-7...you get the picture. I came along a few years later and she taught me how to count...I am really good at that, but I do it backwards...just kidding.

Mom was a special person. She always had a positive thought, encouragement when things were not so great, and the best smile anyone could ever receive. She loved her piano, her home, and her life even though is started off rough.

Mom endured many tough times in her life, the hardest being the loss of her husband Charlie after his stroke and heart attack took his life. They were married for 56 years. Mom took care of Dad during his 3 months of recovery that took his life one day before his birthday. Mom never complained, she kept up the spirit that I will always remember. Two days after his passing, Mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Four very short months later, cancer would take its toll and Mom would be with Dad once again. My Mom died June 19th 2006.

Those of you who had the opportunity to get to know my Mom, knew she was special. Those who never knew her will meet her someday in the future and you will see how special she still is...Rest in peace, I miss your voice and your awesome smile!

Love always,

Your son, Rick
