A few months back I purchased a 914 with a small block Chevy in it….WOW what a fun car, so it was off to find a donor car for another one. Without much looking I stumbled into a lonely 914 sitting a body shop. It was still for sale after some 10 years that I last saw it….after some rather involved negotiations I quickly paid the seller EXACTLY what he was asking and not a penny more! It was deal no matter what the asking price was. It was already converted to a five lugs, had real Porsche Fuchs wheels, a rebuilt 2.0 four banger with dual Webers, and it ran…even after sitting for all those years. Yep a dash of body shop lacquer thinner down the carbs , a jump from another car and it roared to life.

We dragged it home on the trailer and the project was off to a running start. The body has been stripped down to reveal not one repaint, but how about 5 repaints in some very interesting colors. A set of 916 steel flares have been welded on, the front end opened up fro air flow, an aluminum radiator, wider rims and tires, and many various parts put together for the V8 swap. In a few more weeks the eng/trans should be out and the new powerplant installed with the modified flywheel/clutch installed.

This car should be a real crowd pleaser, keeping our fingers crossed, and some good luck we should be ready to fire it up really soon. Then its time for bodywork and paint…always a fun time around here!
